Hey People, All attempts at resolving my 'No CD Detected...' message on itunes, and windows saying: \SystemRoot\SysWow64\Drivers\GEARAspiWDM.sys has been blocked from loading due to incompatibility with this system. Please contact your software vendor for a compatible version of the driver, indicated that I should install the latest driver available on this site (Driver installer for AMD64 and Intel EM64T processors:
Windows XP Professional x64
Windows Server 2003 x64 Edition
Windows Vista x64 Edition).

loads successfully and able to burn CD's but machine goes into BSOD next reboot, requiring system restore.
Machine is HP DV9205TX with Vista Ultimate.

Appreciate some advice, many thanks.

Be sure you have the latest GEAR drivers installed.

They are available here:

http://www.gearsoftware.com/support/drivers.cfm

Be sure to select the appropriate driver for your system.

Yes, I am using the latest drivers,

Driver installer for AMD64 and Intel EM64T processors:
Windows XP Professional x64
Windows Server 2003 x64 Edition
Windows Vista x64 Edition).

it is causing my problem. I have reviewed the apple site, HP site and ilounge discussions. There appears to be quite a few who are suffering the same problem as me.

Hello Carl,

You should contact iTunes if you continue to have problems. GEAR's drivers work with Windows Vista, you can download one of our 30-day trials of our products to see this for yourself.

We do have a Wiki article on manually removing GEAR drivers. If you do a search on manual removal in the Wiki you should find it.

I hope this is helpful to know...

Thankyou Albert for your response. Unfortunately it was not all that helpful. There is either a compatability problem with the required driver and my operating system, or with something else on my PC. I have been searching and reviewing answers to my problem for a couple of weeks before I posted on this site and have tried a number of different ideas other people have offered with no success. I could also be doing something wrong, but I've gone over all my steps and can't see how I'm making a mistake. Confused

Whenever I install the latest Gear driver for my system, it crashes on next boot-up. Sad

My PC is only a month old, latest patches for Vista and itunes 7.2.

Cheers, Carl.

Carl, it is iTunes with the problem.
This is what Albert is trying to tell you.

iTunes uses a GEAR driver that may not necessarily be the latest one or the same as the one we use for GEAR applications.
It's the same thing as Minnetonka Audio's DVD-A applications. These also use embedded GEAR tools, but support is handled by the third party company.

I sympathize with you having to deal with Apple, who do NOT officially support anything on the PC except through the forums.

Thanks for the prompt response. I can understand that itunes may not necessarily be using the latest driver or the same as the one used for GEAR applications, I probably assumed installing your latest driver would overwrite or repair if that was the case.

I will try Apple again for some attention, although as I said earlier, there are plenty of other people starting to have similar complaints without any joy, hopefully a solution is near.

Wish me luck and thanks again for your trouble.

Carl.

Probably a silly question, but you haven't mentioned it...

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes?

Not a silly question. I have had this problem since the previous version of itunes. I thought installing 7.2 would fix it, but I was wrong. I have tried the 'repair' option in Control Panel/AddRemove Programs. No good.

I will uninstall itunes/Quicktime and re-install from a fresh download and let you know how it goes. (not confident).

Thxs, Carl.
