Burning a 4,7 GB Maxell DVD on several Pioneer DVD-Recorder leads to a huge amount of error messages (the disc was succesfully recorded)
in Solaris' /var/adm/messages-File:
Jul 2 15:52:22 sujb scsi: [ID 107833 kern.warning] WARNING: /pci@1f,0/pci@1/scsi@8,1/sd@6,0 (sd21):
Jul 2 15:52:22 sujb Error for Command: write(10) Error Level: All
Jul 2 15:52:22 sujb scsi: [ID 107833 kern.notice] Requested Block: 0 Error Block: 0
Jul 2 15:52:22 sujb scsi: [ID 107833 kern.notice] Vendor: PIONEER Serial Number: 03/09/08 P
Jul 2 15:52:22 sujb scsi: [ID 107833 kern.notice] Sense Key: Not Ready
Jul 2 15:52:22 sujb scsi: [ID 107833 kern.notice] ASC: 0x4 (LUN not ready, long write in progress), ASCQ: 0x8, FRU: 0x0
Are there an tuneable parameters (timeout , wait cycles , ) to avoid the
problem.
We are using gear in an industrial application and our customer is worried
by the error messages
regards
Olaf. |

There is currently no way for GEAR to limit what is 'logged' in the var/adm/messages file.
GEAR needs to 'query' the recorder upon initialization of the software. There is not currently a way to prevent this from happening. We cannot query the recorder with, "Are you ready? If not tell me when you are...I'll wait; and will not ask again until I hear from you (the recorder)"
You may need to consult the Solaris administration documentation to see if you can 'filter' what and what does not get 'logged' in the var/adm/messages file. |
