I'm running windows xp x64 edition rc2. I realize that this OS is most likely unsupported, but I thought I would post my error messages here. Here are my system errors:
The GEAR CDRom Filter service failed to start due to the following error:
This driver has been blocked from loading
\SystemRoot\SysWow64\DRIVERS\GEARAspiWDM.sys has been blocked from loading due to incompatibility with this system. Please contact your software vendor for a compatible version of the driver.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Elliott

Hi there,
I have the same setup and same problem on my machine (though iTunes 4.8 now).
I downloaded these drivers and wanted to install them but I keep getting error messages: cannot copy file xxx.dll error code -1
It does this for, what seems, every file that Setup is trying to extract.
I have administrative rights on my machine. Any ideas? |

OK, I finally installed the drivers by hand using WinZip. The problem is still the same:

According to the Readme file for that directory:
"Driver_Installer_AMD64.exe will install the latest GEAR driver set on Win2003 and WinXP running on AMD64 systems."
It appears to me that Driver_Installer_AMD64.exe is a 32-bit driver for WinXP [x86] running on 64-bit hardware. Am I wrong about this
What we (WinXP x64 users) need is a 64-bit driver.

OK. I sent the e-mail. A person named Manny Carzola, Manager of Customer & Technical Support Services, replied.
No drivers were attached.

Well, the new drivers and installation instructions worked here. No more errors in the system event list related to GEARAspiWDM.sys. I wish all software vendors were so responsive with respect to 64-bit Windows support.
Many thanks, Matt!!

ziopatrizio,
What exactly is the problem you are experiencing with iTunes? You do have the 64bit Drivers for GEAR but do not know how to install them, correct? Thanks. |

Yes it is correct. I've tried to substitute 32 bit dll in C:\Windows\SysWOW64 and the 32 bit sys file in c:\windows\SysWOw64\driver but it does not works. I've also tried to copy 64 bit files in System32 and System32\driver but it still not works fine.
