Getting 'seek failed' error message when I read the DVD
A SEEK FAILED indicates that you attempted to read a block but the drive could not find/seek the location. In more detail the recorder follows the groove in the disc and by reading the subcode can figure out where he is and then start reading. If he can't locate the position requested you get this error.
This can be caused by a defective recorder, a defective reader, poor quality media, dirt/grime/smudges etc. Can you read the discs in ANY drive? Or is it just the one that fails? If it fails in every drive the try a different brand of media (quality stuff). The drive that is being used may not be compatible with recordable media.
