Symptoms

GEAR or GEAR Powered Products (such as Apple iTunes, Norton Ghost and Norton 360) are unable to find any recorders (GEARworks error 2510: "No CD recorders found"), but the GEAR driver set is installed correctly and running.

Discussion

Some third party software can change the default permissions of the CD-ROM driver class, which can prevent the GEAR driver set from accessing CD/DVD drives.

Solution

GEARAspiWDM.sys version 2.1.0.1 resolves this issue, and can be installed by running the latest driver installer.
