ISO9660 - File and directory names

Discussion:
There are 3 levels in the ISO9660 file system. Each level has its own rules regarding file and directory name lengths and the use of mixed case characters in the name.

The level selected in GEAR Pro will determine how file and directory names are written to a CD, and also how many

ISO-9660 Level 1
File and directory names can be 8 characters long.
File names can have a 3 character extension.
All characters must be upper case and the only characters allowed are A-Z, 0-9, '.', and '_'.


Files may also have a version number, which is separated from the file name by a semicolon.

Example: README.TXT;1

ISO-9660 Level 2
File names can be 30 characters long (includes the extension). Directory names can be 31 characters long. All characters must be upper case and the only characters allowed are A-Z, 0-9, '.', and '_'.

ISO-9660 Level 3
File and directory names can be up to 31 characters long and must be in all upper case characters.
