Model Number

This number references the specific device this recorder is. Using it you could identify the manufacturer and the capabilities of the drive. GEAR holds an internal list of recorders that our supported by our software. We use this number in order to reference the drive in this listing.

Sometimes, manufacturers of drives, also have an internal house model number, which is referenced specifically within their business alone.

So how do I find out my drives Model Number?

To find your model number :

  • Within GEAR
    • Right click your device in the device list and select "Settings"
  • Within Windows
    • Open "My Computer"
    • Right click the drive you want to know about.
    • Select Properties
    • Click on the "Hardware" Tab
    • You will see a list of all your recorder devices.

      TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H552B (TSSTcorp is the manufacturer; CD/DVDW TS-H552B is the Model Number)


  • Physically
    • Generally drives list their Model Numbers on a label directly on the top face of the drive. Sometimes this number is referenced after "m/n:", but most always it says "Model:”
