SET TOP BOX: Movies recorded on blank DVDs do not play

From GEAR Software Knowledgebase

Jump to: navigation, search

Summary:
After recording a DVD movie to a DVD±R(W) (DL) disc, the disc will not play in a set-top DVD player.

Cause:
Not all set-top DVD players can read DVD±R(W) (DL) media.

Solution:
Check with the manufacturer of your set top DVD player to see if it is able to play DVD±RW discs. If the DVD player cannot read re-writtable media consider using DVD±R media instead.

Cause:
The disc was not properly authored as a DVD-Video disc with VIDEO_TS content

Solution:
Be sure to "author" your disc as a DVD-Video disc - see our How-To Guides
