Windows 2000 fails to boot after installing GEAR

Jump to: navigation, search

After having installed GEAR, rebooting the system results in a BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death).

This is very likely caused by a registry entry conflicting with a GEAR driver registry entry.

An updated driver installation modifies the registry entries that are causing the problem.

Follow these steps to resolve the issue:

  1. Unplug the recorder from the system and reboot OR disable the recorder in the system BIOS and reboot.
  2. Once the OS has started up, download and install the latest GEAR driver set.
  3. Shutdown the OS
  4. Re-connect or enable the recorder in the system BIOS
  5. Reboot the system.
