GEAR PRO Professional and Mastering Editions allow you to run GEAR in an 'automated' mode to allow unattended recording jobs.

There are three ways to run GEAR PRO Professional and Mastering Editions in 'batch mode'

1. From a Windows Command Prompt
2. Double-clicking the batch file (.GBF files must be associated with GEAR)
3. From within the GEAR PRO Professional and Mastering Editions GUI (Graphical User Interface)



From a Windows Command Prompt:

Type:

“C:\Program Files\GEAR Software\GEAR PRO - Mastering Edition 7.03\gear.exe” /b [/x] [/a] yourbatchfile.gbf

Note: Be sure to place quotes around the full path name, otherwise use the truncated 8.3 path name

The /b is to run in batch mode.
The /a is to run the batch automatically (optional)
The /x is to exit GEAR when the batch is complete (optional)



Double-clicking the batch file (.GBF files must be associated with GEAR)

In the GEAR GUI:

1. Select Options > Preferences...

2. Click the Settings button next to GEAR File Associations

3. Check all the boxes as shown below...

4. Double-click on yourbatchfile.gbf to start GEAR PRO Professional or Mastering Edition in batch mode, run the batch file automatically, and close GEAR when it is finished.



From within the GEAR PRO Professional and Mastering Editions GUI (Graphical User Interface)

1. Select File > Run Batch File...

2. Browse to yourbatchfile.gbf...

3. Click Open

GEAR will run the batch file and return to the main window.

GEAR Online Batch File Generator

GEAR provides some online tools to help you generate your batch files. Use these scripts to generate batch files to run in GPPE and GPME. They offer a lot of insight on how to accomplish many of the common batch file processes run by GPPE and GPME users.
